Insidethehouses,thedoors,porches,andwindowsareadornedwithafusionofChaoshaninlaidporcelainsandwesternplasterstucco.ThedecorativepatternsshowcaseablendoftraditionalfloralandbirdmotifswithWestern-stylegeometricpatternsandevenEnglishletters.Here,wenotonlyexperiencetheowner'sluxurylifebutalsotheintegrationofEasternandWesterncultures.

Thewesterncastle-stylemansion,namedYongningAncientStockadeVillage,isanotherbigattractionofQianmeiVillage.ItwasbuiltinthetenthyearofthereignofYongzheng(1732)byChenTingguang,theancestoroftheChenfamilywhohadservedasacabinetsecretaryintheQingDynasty.Coveringanareaofmorethan10,000squaremeters,thestockadevillagefacesLotusMountain,surroundedbywaterwaysandponds,wherethereflectionoftheLotusMountainandtheconvergenceofwaterarosetheplacetobeanexcellentattraction.Thehousesherearelowerinfrontandhigherinback,whicharedividedintothreelevels,eachwithitsowncharacteristics.

作为广东省文化和旅游特色村，坐落于汕头市澄海区的前美村，既是潮汕地区有名的古村，又是著名的侨乡。

前美村于元朝末年开村，历史悠久，海外华侨众多。这里有“富不过慈黉爷”的民谚，指的是清末富商陈慈黉（hong音），他从香港将实业拓展到泰国，形成跨国贸易体系的商界米业大贾。

有着“潮汕小故宫”和“岭南第一侨宅”之称的陈慈黉故居，占地2.万多平方米，共有厅房500多间。建筑群总格局用潮汕传统“驷马拖车”建筑架构融合了西式的洋楼，再用亭台楼阁、通廊天桥等作为点缀，内里的门廊和窗套，既有潮汕嵌瓷，也有西方石膏泥塑，装饰花纹既有传统花鸟图案，又有西式几何图形甚至英文字母。这里我们不仅看到了主人生活的奢华，也看到了东西方文化的交融。

村里的一座西方城堡式的大宅院——永宁古寨，是前美村另外一大看点。它是由曾担任过清朝内阁中书的陈氏先祖陈廷光在雍正十年（1732年）兴建的，占地有一万多平方米，正对莲花山，四周有沟渠、池塘护卫；前方有寨池，莲峰倒影，众水汇聚，是绝佳的风水宝地。寨内的房屋前低后高，分为三级，各有特点。

走在前美村的街头巷尾，一种古老村落平和古朴的气质扑面而来。远山近水，秀丽怡人，宛如一幅独特的乡村画卷。
